Plasma Cutting

Today we plasma cut some sheet metal

Automating a plasma cutter opens up a whole new world, with the ability to accurately and easily cut metals.

Our toolhead is a regular hand held plasma cutter.  The trigger is actuated by a small solenoid I pulled off an old copy machine

The stock material  is 12 gauge sheet metal and is mild steel.

The toolpath was created with Inkscape.

  1. hi,

I am very interested in your robotic plasma machine, I have already submitted my info but I get nothing about the source code and deign file. Would you help me to solve it?

    1. Hi Sam,
Thank you for your interest in our project. We are closing up loose ends and will be releasing all the source code and design files on May, 16

  2. That’s an awesome project.

I’ve been looking for a while now of trying to bring elements of CAM into the carbon fibre work I’m doing for my race-car (and weirdly, instrument case manufacture) and this seems like such a versatile platform.

I really appreciate the work you’re doing and can see myself downloading and building. If I do, I’ll be happy to make a contribution.
